Reviving this topic as I saved the header to use on an M101Ks I got from Dos, so after weeks of researching and wrapping my head around variated engines I think I sort of got em figured out.
Hitting 50 mphs with nice acceleration.
Gila Kit, 19 Polini Carb, Polini Variator and Piaggio 100mm pulleys.
I think my limiting factor is I can’t find any more belts of varying length. I have a 444mm and a 451mm, the 451 gets me 4mphs more than the 444.
Now back to the pipe:
I think it’s time to get into it, and as Dillon said the stinger restriction only helps “pack” the pipe; and like Graham said, the blowdown needs to be enough to pack the pipe as well.
The current header on the Tomos estoril is about 22mm and the MLM header is around 25.5mm using basic math I calculated the length required to “match” the volume of both pipes headers.
My fear though unproven is that the Gila kit will not have enough blowdown to reach the wanted results.
Could I theoretically use the stinger restriction to make us for the lack of blowdown of no? I could make the header shorter but I don’t want it to interfere with the stand so I have about 3 inches to work with.
I know that my low end will suffer but I figured I could make up for it by adjusting the clutch and weights.
