Playing around w a spare motor and some jailing parts. 93 jog CDI. Great spark. It’s firing at a odd location. Blue tape is TDC and black line on flywheel is where it’s firing. Flywheel is on the only way it fits. What am I screwing up. Cheers

TAke a piston tool set at 14 degrees before tdc and line up the sharpie marks and bolt the flywheel down !

timing all set. Spark firing is jumping around probably due to low voltage to the Jog CDI from the Jialing Stator. I read that the A3202 should work (i have one ordered). Anyone have luck w the Jog CDI?

Hmmm 95 volts to the CDI.
I have/had the knockoff jog CDI from ebay + 1977mopeds clone CDI that worked all together with a stock honda hobbit magneto

Ok. Timing set. Great spark. Here’s the goofy stuff. With the plug out and connected, timing perfect. When the plug is installed, timing is way way way way off. Take the plug back out, timing perfect. Oh. Also tried several CDIs .
What did i miss here?
Could be one of two things
Sometimes the secondary coils don’t like the cdi box
Ur wiring looks wrong
I can post a pic later of the cdi wires labeled correctly with the blue cdi box so u can trace them back to the magneto

After that I’m going to McDonald’s
Black with red strip goes to primary coil
White with a red strip is the trigger
Black with white strip is the kill
Orange goes to the secondary coil
Black is ground (ground off at the secondary coil)
But ur wires look way different color (edited)

I think I’m missing ground to secondary coil. I’m grounded to frame .

Ground everything to the frame.
Is this running yet? You need to time this at like 23 deg btdc. It starts there then will retard down to 18 or so which is usually safe with a decent head. This is for most Zuma jog a3202 boxes.
Don’t time with the plug out duh.
No point in checking that.

Yea the ground to coil was just a good luck charm, its what Yamaha did so I just copied them

Will investigate tonight. May pull stator apart to check wiring.
Explain why timing cant be set/checked w/ plug not in head but connected.

Well honestly I’ve never done that so maybe it’s ok but my gut says latency and compression will change shit.
Figured I give an update. Gave up on the jailing . This flywheel may have been off a point stator
IDK. Put on a 83 hobbit stator and flywheel. Seem to work w the “blue box” well my timing light broke so I can’t check the advance. I’ll try and post different CDI box results in the future
