Many scooter heads have a more ideal squish band and combustion chamber shape than many vintage mopeds had stock. Many scooter heads of the same manufacturer of moped are interchangeable. Most scooter heads are side draft, meaning they're air cooled by a fan pushing air sideways across them. Simply by using a mill bit in a drill press you can convert your side draft scooter head to down draft cooling. Because scooters typically use fans to cool the head and cylinder the fins on the head are usually smaller than that found on a similar moped. Because of this you wont be able to get the same amount of cooling with a scooter head as you would a moped head. Though cutting the fins as shown will significantly improve a scooter heads cooling when used on a moped where the cylinder sits parallel with the ground.
