Ignore this man at all costs.
fuck off Robert!
Personal attacks and general forum meta-discussion is not the point of the wiki
Can we stop the revert war here and at Robert Mosurinjohn? Continually reinstating this article here will not stop the flame war. I don't think our members and administrators intended the wiki to be used this way. --Mercadal 11:42, 27 October 2008 (EDT)
I agree that this is completely out of control and not within the realms of what the wiki was intended to be. If we could ban Bob from the forums permanently and make it stick, I would be happy to see this article go and forget all about it. But until then, my reasoning is that this offers an explanation to all the newbies he is confusing/annoying in the repair forums. I'm not perturbed that this also shows up in google results for his name, as I feel that this is our revenge for the havoc he has wreaked on the forum. Anyway, I don't think you're going to have much luck getting the editing to stop. I already erased it once with a note telling people to stop changing it, and that lasted all of about 4 hours. I am doubtful that anything anyone says will make people stop reverting the article every time Bob erases it. If we could get this page locked (be it in the full form or the erased form -- whichever the administrators decide is best) or deleted, that would be ideal. --Mycider 12:02, 27 October 2008 (EDT)
- Locking the page would probably be the best solution to this altogether, though that requires the intercession of Simon, and I'd rather not bring him into this -- he's a busy man. Can we agree to just blank this page, and continue to do so? I'm sure some folks won't, or won't bother reading /Talk anyway. Still, this policy would likely keep most of the fallout limited to the general forum. Otherwise, I think the policy should be as always -- revert vandalism and work on informative articles. --Mercadal 12:16, 27 October 2008 (EDT)
- Sounds good to me. This article has already been copied into the forums under the "Robert Mosurinjohn" thread, which is now one of the top google hits for his name. Last time I checked, this article wasn't showing up as one of the higher hits anymore anyway. Besides, the full article is still saved in the history, so anyone who wants to read it can do so there. Anyone who wants to link to the full text can just use this: http://www.mopedarmy.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=Targaped&oldid=7458 Like I said, though, I don't know if this is going to work. Us helping Bob by erasing it is just going to make us reverting against the people on "our side," and I don't want to see an edit war where we are fighting amongst ourselves just because of this stupidity. --Mycider 12:39, 27 October 2008 (EDT)
- Thanks, mycider. These things do eventually always blow over. Anyone else ever notice that the troubles tend to begin in the fall, just as its too cold to ride all the time, but when mopeds are still fresh in peoples' minds? (Despite the cold, I get to go ride in the rain right now ...) --Mercadal 12:45, 27 October 2008 (EDT)
I'm with Linda: keep the page up til this whole thing blows over. He wants it taken down, maybe we'll do it when he finally leaves. --previous unsigned comment jamesg
- I understand your concerns, but by putting up information about Targaped's posting history here, the housefire in the general forum spreads to the wiki, too. Please leave the page blank for the sake of members and wiki editors who are not interested in seeing this revert war escalate. --Mercadal 12:30, 27 October 2008 (EDT)
