The Speed Dorsel Maneuver is a riding style popularized by Indiana moped enthusiasts in which the rider lays on his stomach and simultaneously creates a "fin" with his left hand on his back. This aerodynamic position is said to give an incalculable increase in velocity and minimizes the wind resistance created by "the extra hand." Moped amateurs are not encouraged to launch into this position while riding without additional speed monitoring technology or the presence of a registered MRA member. "Dorsel" is of course not to be confused with "dorsal" (a back fin found on dolphins, etc.), as the move was first popularized by the mysterious Indiana native, Steve Dorsel.
